Trading in DataForce Fantasy Football Leagues

Trading is an important part of season-long fantasy football. Depending on your league's trading level, DataForce leagues let you trade all sorts of things:

  • Players, of course.
  • Upcoming picks in your snake draft. Email drafts even let you trade picks while the draft is underway!
  • Blind bidding money. Every team starts the year with $500 for waivers, and it may be traded (except in limited-trading leagues).
  • In email auctions (DataForce-hosted leagues only; not MyFantasyLeague), auction money may be traded before or during the auction. Once your roster is full, remaining auction money is taken away, so trade it before your auction ends.
  • In keeper leagues you may trade picks one year ahead; in dynasty leagues, up to two years ahead. Trading away your own future first-round pick requires a partial prepayment of next year's fee.
  • In contract leagues, you may trade player contracts.

Trading is not available in Tin Baby, Draftmaster, Playoff, Guillotine or Contender leagues. To limit collusion, you may make at most five trades with the same team before the draft and five after it (Super-trader leagues excepted).

The Trade Review Process

DataForce commissioners review every trade to prevent collusion, but with so many trading options we also rely on league members. If a trade looks suspicious or threatens the integrity of the league, file a trade protest. That starts a vote among your league and a jury of owners from similar leagues, so the commissioner can make an informed, unbiased decision about reversing the trade. Read more about trade reviews.

The Trade Window and Trade Deadline

Once the regular season begins, the trade window closes at 9pm Central on Saturday each week, leaving time to review trades before Sunday's lineups lock. It reopens the morning after the week's final NFL game, usually Tuesday. Players who have already kicked off (on a Thursday night, for example) can't be traded until the window reopens.

The trade deadline is Saturday of NFL week 11: once the trade window closes that night, no more trades are allowed until the season is over. There is no trade window in the preseason: trade anytime before the season begins.
